God Almighty sent William Carey, the father of modern mission, from Baptist Missionary Society in England in 1793 to India who later establish Serampore Mission near Kolkata, with his colleagues. The very first translation of the Christian Scriptures into Nepali credits to William Carey's Serampore Mission in India. They completed the New Testament in 1821.

Long before Mr. Carey, Portuguese fathers were in 1628 in Nepal and taught and told the gospel to local in Kathmandu in foreign language. Malla King then received them with open heart and gave them space to stay and to learn more about their mission. The Fathers were en route to  Sigatse in Tibet from Bengal and had little chance to explore Nepal. The Fathers did not translate or print any thing to Nepali. 

It was the Nepali person, Ganga Prasad Pradhan, who translated and printed Nepali New Testament Bible of his version in 1902 in his own printing press, The Gorkha Press in Darjeeling, and the complete Bible printed in 1914, under the supervision of British and Foreign Bible Society.
